ENUMA ELISH

The Babylonian Creation Myth is known as the Enuma Elish because these are the first two words of the epic.  The words enuma elish mean ‘When on high…’.

The Han-Tungus Prototype roots are immediate relatives to the Mongolian language roots, if not their precursors.  The combination of the two Han-Tungus prototype roots nima ‘fairy tale’ and elekes ‘in the beginning’ yields the combination nima elekes ‘fairy tale – in the beginning’.  In Mongolian tradition and in very early Middle Eastern and Eurasian mythologies, the Goddess is the Beginning.  She is also always on Her mountain, always ‘On High’.  Thus, nima elekes ‘fairy tale in the Beginning’ could be loosely interpreted as ‘Fairy Tale When the Goddess was On High’.

This is reasonably comparable to enuma elish ‘When on high…’.

TIAMAT

In the Babylonian epic, the Enuma Elish, the oldest being of the universe is Tiamat, a great ‘Ocean Mother’.  She is the source of all other beings, but She is evil.  The legend says that at some unidentified point and for some unidentified reason, She was transformed into a sea monster, probably a kind of dragon.  It is said that ‘She has no redeeming features’.

In the Legend of Abala, the Divine Lady of the Lake is the ultimate representation of the Divine Goddess on Earth.

In the Mongolian language of Siberia, the word da means ‘great’.  The word Ome means ‘the Goddess’.  The combination word da-Ome means ‘the Great Goddess’.  We then find that the word atu means ‘a female fish’ or to be more accurate ‘a female creature of the water’.  The combination word da-Ome-atu, abbreviated to Da-Om-at, means the ‘Great Goddess female Creature of the Water’.  This is an accurate description of the Divine Lady of the Lake.

It is from the much earlier Mongolian Ta-om-at that the later Babylonian Tiamat was derived.

In support of the premise that Tiamat was a lake, in the Akkadian language of the ancient Middle East, the word tiamtu means ‘sea’ or ‘lake’.
