And yet, as popular as Apollo was, and as much as has been written about him, historians and mythologists alike are not sure where the god Apollo came from. There is no evidence of his origin in northern Europe, mainland Greece, the Mediterranean, the Middle East or Asia Minor. The best guess by scholars is that Apollo came from somewhere in the East, possibly from ancient Anatolia (now known as Turkey) and possibly even further east.
But they still don’t know.
